Healthy, easy to make APPLE CRUMBLE recipe

Craving a delicious Apple crumble that is quick, easy and healthy. I conjured up this recipe with a bit of tweaking and it was so yum I even ate it for breakfast! Crunchy, sweet and tasty!

Cravings… what can you do but give into them! So aside from the constant sugary cravings I have had an unusual craving for apple crumble. Time to get experimental with my crumble. I tweaked a few of the traditional options for some healthy choices. This crumble keeps for days and is a great substitute for a breakfast meal or a sweet treat after dinner. Add a side of yoghurt, custard or vanilla ice cream.

*TIP…heat your apple crumble add a dash of vanilla bean yoghurt and Oh Lord its the berries!

Ingredients

  • 6-8 large green apples (peeled and cored)

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 cup food for health cereal (found in health food section)

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice

  • 2 - tablespoons coconut oil

  • Handful of chopped nuts (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Method

Sprinkle apples with lemon juice and cinnamon in a large baking dish

Bake chopped apples prior to assembling crumble. Bake in hot oven (160 degrees) until apples are tender

Crumble : add oats, food for health cereal, maple syrup, brown sugar, and melted coconut oil mix all ingredients together by hand until fine and crumbly

Top over apples with nuts (nuts are optional) bake until topping is golden and crunchy

Serve with vanilla bean yoghurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon

Refrigerates well!
